Landowner guide
Questions to ask before you hire a land clearing contractor
Use this list with any contractor, including us. The answers should be clear and in writing.
Scope
- Will you walk the property with me before giving a number?
- Can I mark the trees that stay and the boundaries of the work?
- What exactly happens to the brush and the stumps?
Price
- Do you charge by the hour, the day or the acre, and what is the rate?
- What is the minimum, and what is not included? Hauling, travel and add-ons are the usual surprises.
- Do I pay for the time worked if the job finishes early?
- Will I get the expected time in writing before you start?
Protection
- Do you carry general liability insurance, and how much?
- Who is responsible if something on the property is damaged?
Proof
- Can I see photos of recent jobs near me?
- Can I talk to a recent customer?
How B&B answers
We walk the property first. Rates are published on our pricing page and every rate includes an operator. You pay for the time worked. The expected day count is put in writing before the work begins. B&B operates under Ray Barnum Incorporated with $2M general liability coverage. See our project photos.
