How forestry mulching is priced
We charge for machine time, and we publish the rates. Here is how that works, with examples you can check yourself.
The short version
Every B&B machine rate includes an operator. The published rates are a five-hour minimum of $800 ($160 an hour for those five hours), $175 for each additional hour, $1,500 for a full day, and $1,400 a day when you book three or more days.
Why we do not quote by the acre
Acres do not tell you how long the work takes. Two acres of thick brush can take longer than five acres of scattered growth. What sets the time is the density of the growth, the size of the trees, the terrain and how easy it is to get a machine in. That is why we walk the property first and put an expected day count in writing.
Worked examples from the published rates
- 4 hours of machine work: $800, because of the five-hour minimum.
- 7 hours: $800 for the first five hours plus 2 additional hours at $175, which is $1,150.
- 1 full day: $1,500.
- 3 days: 3 at $1,400, which is $4,200.
- 5 days: 5 at $1,400, which is $7,000.
Add-ons are billed by the hour on top: ground hand with chainsaw $55, telehandler $75, Extreme Duty 88-inch brush cutter $100. Try your own numbers in the estimator on the pricing page.
What is not in the number
- Hauling and disposal. If you want material taken off the property, it is quoted per job.
- Distance. Jobs more than 30 miles out have a two-day minimum. Multi-day projects can be considered up to about 150 miles away.
If the job finishes early
You pay for the time worked.
